Wahoo Kryptonite – Surface Iron

Casting surface iron for Wahoo is arguably the most spectacular method of catching them, yet the least practiced. While the majority of those fishing will be tossing Bombs and Raiders and some will try live bait, the top of the water column is often ignored.  Few fish can match the explosiveness of a Hoo, especially on a top water jig and seeing one 10-15 feet in the air with your jig in its mouth is an unforgettable experience.  These larger sized jigs include the Salas Super 7X, Super 6X, Tady 14, Tady 15 and Pep 8. They are all easy to cast, proven killers and especially durable. You can easily change out the Flouro for wire, if you prefer.
